SOLUTRANS 2013, the trade fair for haulage and urban transport professionals being held from 19th to 23rd November 2013 at Eurexpo in Lyon – France, will focus on the theme of innovation and internationalisation for its next edition.
And in order to take its key events to the next level, the exhibition, which aims to host 800 exhibitors and receive around 35,000 visitors, will be holding imaginative activities and offering new communication tools in order to enrich and introduce all its exhibitors’ innovations in France and Europe.

These days, innovation is a key factor in differentiation and competitiveness in the road and urban transport sector.
Aware of the needs of its exhibitors and visitors, and conscious of the difficult economic climate, SOLUTRANS decided to base the 2013 edition around innovation, with the goals of:
- Bringing together all of the industry
- Positioning itself as the first European event for the truck industry, organised under the patronage of the French Ministry of Industry and Growth and forming part of the “World Road Haulage and Urban Transport Week”, reinforcing its international flavour
- Supporting industry players to develop even better

The Awards for Innovation in Transport Solutions:
Organised by the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and the FFC, the Awards for Innovation in Transport Solutions (formerly the Technical Innovation in Industrial Bodywork Awards) have been awarded to exhibitors’ innovative new products and solutions at SOLUTRANS since 2001. The innovations should improve the performance of a vehicle with bodywork in terms of its environment, ergonomics, cost savings, and so on. 2013 sees a change of name and simpler categories for these awards, with the Awards for Innovation in Transport Solutions 2013 being split into 3 categories: “Body Builders”, “Equipment manufacturers” and “Jury’s favourite.”
In 2013: The avenue of innovation: at the entrance to the exhibition, a walkway will showcase all the innovative products and services that caught the eye of the jury in the Awards for Innovation in Transport Solutions to visiting professionals. The nominees and prizewinners will receive even more coverage as of the second day of the show.
The Truck & Bus World Forum:
Organised by the ERAI* in partnership with the ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association), the 6th edition of the Truck & Bus World Forum will form part of the “World Road Haulage and Urban Transport Week” on 21st and 22nd November 2013, with a panel of internationally renowned speakers and many listeners gathering from all around the world. The objective of this two-day discussion is to conduct a prospective analysis of some of the issues facing urban transport around one major theme: “Next steps for global sustainable transport solutions”.
A multi-purpose space combining conference and multimedia facilities, the KHUB is taking a different format this year. Each conference will be followed by workshops to facilitate networking, between speakers and participants. Open to all, these lectures and workshops will focus on the key theme of “The challenges facing safety and security in road transport.”
SOLUTRANS Employment / Training:
After an initial trial at the 2011 exhibition which was very well received, SOLUTRANS is renewing its partnership with local schools, the French Ministry of Education and training organisations to raise awareness of the roles within this business sector among youngsters, from Tuesday to Friday.
New in 2013: The 11th Employment platform for the first time in Lyon: in partnership with Jobtransport, organiser of the Paris-based exhibition, SOLUTRANS will be welcoming, for the first time, the 11th Employment platform show, based in the Employment & Training area. Open Tuesday to Friday, it will allow local and national recruiting companies to meet highly targetted local candidates.
The truck industry meet-up:
Masterminded by SOLUTRANS and organised by the FFC, the third meet-up for the Truck Industry will be held on 19th November, the first day of the fair, from 2pm, and will be open to visitors and journalists.

Light commercial vehicle days:
New in 2013: In partnership with the exhibiting vehicle manufacturers and body builders at the show, SOLUTRANS will be holding information days for regional dealers. Organised around presentations and visits to stands, these days are designed to help dealers better meet the needs of their clients, light commercial vehicle users.
In partnership with journalists from IToY (International Truck of the Year), SOLUTRANS will be hosting conference sessions and testing the latest generation of hybrid, electric and gas vehicles (LNG and CNG), kindly lent by manufacturers and their suppliers. So far, leading brands such as, DAF, Daimler, Iveco, Renault Trucks, Volvo Trucks and ZF have confirmed their participation.
A tribute to Paul Berliet:
In partnership with the Berliet Foundation, SOLUTRANS will be presenting an exhibition and a range of events in honor of Paul Berliet (1918-2012), with a retrospective look at the innovations that have transformed the world of transport.
The Exhibitors’ evening:
Held on 21st November at the show, this evening event enables exhibitors to invite their VIP customers to network freely in a friendly atmosphere.
New tools to promote innovation
In order to get the most from the exhibitors’ innovations, SOLUTRANS has a range of new tools on offer:
Expert route maps:
To allow every exhibitor to highlight the whole of their offering before the show, SOLUTRANS has created customised routes around the exhibition for particular occupations and areas of interest. Five routes have been designed: “Innovation”, “Environment/engine”, “Safety/Security”, “Bodywork and equipment users” and “Transport system (itinerary & location)” to allow visitors to make the most of their time at the exhibition.
The area dedicated to outdoor activities will be increased at SOLUTRANS 2013, so exhibitors who wish to showcase their innovations through demonstrations will have even better visibility. And this will also be supported by communications about these demos before and during the show.
New, innovative services:
Many new communication tools will be used in this year’s edition of SOLUTRANS:
- Promotional videos of exhibiting companies & original advertising tools;
- A promotion targeted at transport professionals (with the assistance of the CSIAM – International Automobile and Motorcycle Trade Union Association) and at regional craftsmen;
- A stronger European promotion in collaboration with the ERAI and journalists from ITOY.
An even easier visit
Finally, the exhibition makes it easier for all types of professionals to visit, offering:
- Improved signage with screens in all halls and a mobile application;
- Quicker and smoother admission thanks to entry via e-badge;
- And always, the night out on Thursday 21st November.
